Stonehenge: Site megalithic secret ancient cellars of the turbulent past of the Earth
By early summer of 2006, probably knew as much Stonehenge as the next man – is a large collection of old stones, or megaliths, set in a circle of chalk on the gently rolling hills of Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire English …
Having grown in England, I even had the opportunity to visit the area as a schoolboy, although I must say I was more interested in up and down the slopes of the nearby Avebury to listen to the ringing master of how the site was built and by whom. Little had changed almost Forty years later, England's World Cup proving to be much more exciting than the antics of their Neolithic ancestors. So when my daughter ten year-old asked why anyone would want to use as large stones to build Stonehenge, first, my answer was adequate simplistic, but it made me think. In fact be asked a very strange experiment followed by two years of intensive research culminating in a book, The Stonehenge Observatory.
You may be wondering why anyone still interested in the site, after all, so it has been written about him in the last 100 years can not have nothing more to discover, you can not?
If only it was as simple as that, whatever they may be boxed the site, Stonehenge is a problem quite difficult for archaeologists.
- It is similar to the ancient earthworks in the use of a bank and a ditch, but the arrangement is unique for almost all other ancient earthworks has a channel inside and outside the bank. For some reason, this is reversed at Stonehenge, where a foreign bank holds the remains of a once high international bank.
- It is also similar to the ancient megalithic structures in the use of stone, but the quality of labor is unique. Lintels set on two pillars have been secured and taken control of boards that are more familiar with precast concrete structures in today. Possibly the only other former site demonstration of this method joint dry stone is the Pyramid of Giza, where stone has been used to ensure angle.
- Stonehenge is a megalithic landscape populated more by enclosures causewayed, tombs and burial chambers over, and although individual stones the size and finish seen at Stonehenge is not unusual for the Neolithic age, thirty pillars, each weighing about 30 tons, accurately placed on sloping ground to support a level and a perfect ring of lintels over 30 m (100 ft) in diameter is extraordinary, not only for Europe.
- Given the size of the ditch that surrounds the number of stones that is surprisingly little evidence of having been constructed using the tools of the day – Asta and bone. For example, there are only two radiocarbon samples available to put a date on the construction of seventy-five stones that form the Sarsen Circle and trilithons, and differ by almost 2,000 years.
- It is so well designed that some observers believe that functioned as a solar and lunar calendar at a time emerging societies in Neolithic farming in Britain realized the importance of the Sun and Moon in the prediction of the seasons, a view that contrasts with British archaeologists believe that somehow 'symbolic' of a cultural connection with spirits of the dead – only requiring knowledge far beyond the capabilities of the British Neolithic people and suggest (heaven forbid) a foreign influence. For this, the "authorities" seem to willing to do almost anything to keep Stonehenge, a truly national monument.
Almost all attempts to recreate techniques believed to have been used to transport, prepare and lift the stones is done so that from the point of reinforcing the theory of the Neolithic.
Has helped define a sequence of construction phases spanning 1,500 years in the assembly of larger groups of stone, trilithons in the center of the monument will require builders to negotiate the Sarsen Circle during placement and final assembly (it is worth noting how the recreation of the construction techniques were performed always in isolation and end perfectly square blocks of precast concrete). A re-evaluation by the Ancient Monuments Laboratory (AML) of material datable radiocarbon recovered during the excavations of the 20th century the site was clearly aimed at strengthening these phases established.
It is in this context that I have tried published a paper documenting my own theory about six months of my research. Looking back, to be honest, it was felt prepared a hasty conclusion wanted to put his stamp as mine and does not deserve the attention more than what was achieved. Undeterred by the lack of official response or the media was investigating Stonehenge theme in books, video and Internet. Most authors offer little more information can be obtained from the book of RJC Atkinson, Stonehenge, published in 1956, and by default to techniques for moving and lifting stones which he describes. Even Gerald Hawkins, author of the much maligned Stonehenge Decoded in which "proved" that builders are able to calculate astronomical far ahead of his time, was forced to follow the sequence of construction Atkinson and subsequent archaeological dating back to them. I also could have fallen into this trap if it were not for Google SketchUp. This incredibly powerful and easy to use software allows unprecedented access to the site through 3D models were created with data from a variety of sources and, in combination with astronomical software CyberSky, I the opportunity to test theoretical alignments, and add weight to my own theory. However, it was in the use of models to provide illustrations for the book I noticed a consequence of the method adopted for lifting Atkinson Sarsen pillars – the orientation of the lower surface meant that it could only have been raised from outside the circle. It was just one of a number of inconsistencies that were to challenge the established order of construction and timing, a question which is also confirmed after careful study of AML.
In late 2007 I was reasonably sure that my theory provided a credible alternative to the other, including "archillogical the interpretation of Stonehenge as a place of worship Neolithic ritual. Hawkins had been right on the surrounding rocks, but that could only have been placed after a severe erosion of the banks that made them useless otherwise. Other theories are based on uniformity of the stone and symmetry that is absent in all but Sarsen lintel ring. Furthermore totally ignores the characteristics for which they have no use or explanation. Stonehenge is too precise agreement to be simply a temple, but also raw material choice for an astronomical observatory – that is, until it is full of water and at that time central value of stones provides a firm base from which to observe a reflection of the sun, moon and stars. There can be no other reason to pay much attention to form and finishing a lintel ring remain out of sight of observers at ground level, and especially so when so little attention was paid to the pillars support it.
Contrary to what many stylized models of Stonehenge pillars are not of uniform shape and size (and never were) are the differences between them, however, much is being placed on adapting or hide the view of various events. The pillars are purely structural and well suited to a purpose. Another reason to believe that the thresholds provide a firm foundation on which to move is the technique used to lock into place. It is as if seven tons of rock is likely to slide two Ton 30 pillars set 1m (3 feet) on the ground, but the builders felt it necessary to use three different methods to join together. The hills surrounding still provide an ample supply of water as a confined aquifer and there is every reason to believe that the level of the water table even more in the past. Features in and around the site to provide examples of how water could enter and stay within the limits of the Henge.
At the same time (late 2007) I had problems with the projection geometry. It was impossible to prove to provide a geometric method to compensate for the orientation of the place around 50 ° east of the north without having to resort to trigonometric tables, and I wanted to show how stars can be traced mechanically. The orientation of the site to the longest day of the year, the summer solstice, reinforces the notion that intentionally lined up at the event, but the association is weak for several reasons, at least none of which is the tendency for the event to move left and right by changing the angle of inclination Earth. Following a dialogue with astronomy professor decided to look at the problem from a completely different angle, literally, where everything about to fall into place. Not only was the geometry problem resolved, there was also an explanation of the positions within the circle Sarsen trilithons in providing a permanent record of outages in northern and southern of the Moon.
For the first time all the features in the Henge could be considered a single functional unit. However, in closing the door of a mystery that had opened the door to another of even greater magnitude – my theory is correct, the history of the Earth has to be wrong.
There are, of course, much more contained in my book, The Stonehenge Observatory. It includes a comprehensive examination of study of AML, an explanation of the astronomical problems faced by builders, alternative theories, and a full description of the features. But the paper itself never really does justice to the site. Previous authors have turned to long-winded descriptions of the stones with the plans of the Baseline Survey style artillery or metal structure diagrams which the site would be similar. In an attempt to provide the reader with as much access as possible to the site without the need to be there in person (which would require a machine time to see how it was originally) I have made the 3D models available online at:
http://www.stonehengeobservatory.com
The website is designed to complement the book, so do not expect too much from the comment form. The models are, however, very interactive with the option to show or hide features, pan and zoom either manually or with the help of a site plan. An eBook version is available Stonehenge Observatory for those of you who can not wait for the printers. There is also an animated reconstruction of the destruction of the site from which it is possible to see the extent of damage to individual stones. The destruction of Stonehenge is as mysterious as the way it was built. There can be no doubt that the man appeared largely in removal of fallen stones, but just look at the 20 th century restoration of the page to figure out how the size and the foundations of which were the left represents a major problem for the Treasury than we ever did for the constructor. Large cranes, gantries and cribs are essential to raise still buried megaliths after so many centuries. It is also clear that the erosion-prone areas some sufficient foundations for the wind to take its toll, but not to the extent that the sector entire south would be demolished, although the extent of damage suggesting a tsunami or earthquake, the pattern of destruction, says otherwise. To this end, which consider possible Stonehenge Observatory can only invite scorn from the academic community to which I belong, but the true age of Stonehenge and the event leading to its destruction, along with what can only be described as a smokescreen of truly astronomical proportions are corroborated by studies conducted by members of that community.
